John Lithgow

October 19th Celebrates John Lithgow

Today’s is the actor John Lithgow’s birthday, he was born on October 19th 1945, and is such versatile actor giving each performance something you NEVER seen before in each part he plays.

The first time I saw John Lithgow was in the movie called, “The World According to Garp,” that was released in 1982 co starring the late Robin Williams.

After seeing that movie I was hooked in what else John Lithgow could act in?

You might remember him in, “Harry and Henderson’s” where BIG foot decides to live with a rural family in Oregon.

Today’s YouTube presentation clip is the ending theme song of the movie called, “Harry Henderson’s,” shared by user name (higgins 0421) starring John Lithgow, as we celebrate his birthday today on October 19th.

John Lithgow was “born to the theater” has meaning in determining a person’s life path, and then John Lithgow is a prime example of this truth. He was born in Rochester, New York, to Sarah Jane (Price), an actress, and Arthur Washington Lithgow III, who was both a theatrical producer and director.

His father ran a Shakespearian Acting company in the 1950s which included David Carradine.

Even though his parents were both actors, he was inspired to get into acting by Peter Sellers.

Did you know John Lithgow provided the voice of Yoda in the NPR radio dramatizations of “The Empire Strikes Back” (1983) and “Return of the Jedi” (1996)?

One my favorite movies from John Lithgow was the Brian De Palma film called, “Raising Cane,” about this evil scientist that was into human cloning, it’s a pretty intense movie, with John Lithgow playing several characters in the movie. The movie was released in 1992, and it was my first horror film that after watching it, I had to sleep with the light on.

Despite being known for playing characters who are often pompous and unlikable or outright villainous, he has been described by many of his co-stars as an extremely kind and friendly man and a pleasure to work with.
