When I think of Charlene Theron the word “Wow” comes to mind.
Theron was born in Benoni, on August 7th 1975, in the then-Transvaal Province of South Africa.
On 21 June 1991, Theron’s father, an alcoholic, physically attacked her mother and threatened both her mother and her while drunk; Theron’s mother then shot and killed him. The shooting was legally adjudged to have been self-defense and her mother faced no charges.
I admire people who choose to shine after all the storms they’ve been through in life, and if God could talk about the storms Charlize Theron went through. I think he would say, “Don’t judge her, because you don’t know what storms I asked her to walk through.”
In lieu of that I think Charlize Theron was able to tap into her father’s death and give an outstanding performance in the movie called, Monster.
On January 30th 2004, when the release of Monster came out, Theron played a serial killer named Aileen Wuornos, a Daytona Beach prostitute.
This was not an easy movie to like but I was so enthralled at Charlize Theron’s makeover and performance that it took center stage over the story.
Theron received overwhelming critical acclaim and won seventeen awards for her portrayal, including the Academy Award for Best Actress, Golden Globe Award for Best Actress and the Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress.
Although Charlize didn’t start out as actress in the beginning she always saw herself as dancer first.
Theron at the age of 16 won a one year modeling contract, and move with her mother to Milan Italy.
Today’s YouTube video shared by user name Highlights Celebrities gives you a slide show presentation of the Evolution on Charlize modeling career, before becoming an actress;
Although Theron saw herself as a dancer, after a year of modeling her mother and move to New York City and attended Joffrey Ballet School, where she trained as a ballet dancer until a knee injury closed this career path.
Like anything in life, failure doesn’t mean anything; it just means your changing paths. It’s never too late to be something you might have been, but Charlize case the acting bug came to her when her mother bought her a one-way ticket to Los Angeles in 1994 and Charlize started visiting all of the agents on Hollywood Boulevard but without any luck.
Her first role was as a young mother in a park in a B-film in 1995, but it was a non-speaking role with three seconds of screen time.
Since then, she has starred in movies like The Devil’s Advocate (1997), Mighty Joe Young (1998), The Cider House Rules (1999), The Legend of Bagger Vance (2000) and The Italian Job (2003). An important day in her life was February 29, 2004 when she was awarded with her first Academy Award for her performance in Monster (2003).
After winning her Oscar, she returned to great celebrations in her native South Africa, and she even met former South African President Nelson Mandela.
When he praised her for putting their country on the map and gave her a hug, Theron broke into tears (she was guest of honor at the Nelson Mandela Foundation in Johannesburg on March 11, 2004, as wish Charlize Theron a Happy Birthday!
